Developing Kung Fu Spirit
"We enrolled our six year old son, Marcelas, in kung fu about 6 months ago, and in such a short period of time his attitude, self esteem and listening skills have improved immensely. Before joining he had trouble staying focused and following directions. His attention span was short and his mind would wander.
In the beginning, he was shy and somewhat reserved. He wasn't one to volunteer or participate in group activities. He would withdraw from games involving many children.
Taking kung fu has helped bring him out of his shell. His [school] teacher was happy to inform me of how wonderful he is doing in school. He takes his school work and group activities seriously. His good citizenship and constant respect for others is an example to the other children in his class. His teacher also mentioned the self-discipline he demonstrates when doing his work. He is focused and alert. Like us, she is very proud of him.
Kung fu is not only a beautiful art form and a great way of staying healthy, but also a wonderful training lesson guiding children through life’s challenges." ~ ~ Cecilia
Hi, my name is Carolyn and I am 30 years old. I started doing kung fu at the Concord Kung Fu Academy a year ago. I have had many Gym memberships, but I am really not good at self-motivation to work out or at pushing myself to the limits when I work out. I signed up with the Concord Kung Fu Academy fo many reasons, but one of the major ones was to help me get into shape. The Concord Kung Fu Academy offered private lessons, as well as group classes where an instructor would lead you in a workout plan. After my first class, I not only knew that I was really out of shape but that this was the place for me. In the year that I have attended, I have lost a noticeable amount of weigh (2 pants size dropped), increased my flexibility, upper body strength, and my endurance, as well as toned up. ~ ~ Carolyn W.
